Detroit 09' Preview: 2010 Jaguar XFR Photos Leaked

| среда, 30 сентября 2009 г.

Thanks to a few sites breaking the embargo, we now have an early look at the 2010 Jaguar XFR that will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show.

The 2010 Jaguar XFR is powered by 510 horsepower 5.0L AJ-V8 GEN III engine that features with a 6-generation Roots-type twin vortex (TVS) supercharger. That power propels the car from 0-60 mph in 4.7 seconds with an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.

The XFR also features 20-inch Nevis alloy wheels and comes in eight colors: Botanical Green, Indigo, Kyanite Blue, Liquid Silver, Lunar Grey, Porcelain and Salsa.

Go Out In Style With The Jaguar XJ8 Hearse [Custom Cars]

| четверг, 10 сентября 2009 г.

We were out and about cruising the snowy streets of Detroit, taking advantage of the return of sub-two dollar gas, and what to our wondering eyes should appear, but a stretched Jaguar XJ8 hearse.

We didn't even know Jag hearses existed given the dominance of Cadillacs, with their long wheelbase and powerful front wheel drive setup making them seem the only kind of hearse on the road. Not so.

This XJ seems to do the duty pretty well, with a wheelbase that's been stretched significantly and some stylish coachwork to finish things out. Technically, it's a fair bit more difficult than a Caddy hearse since it's got a multi-link rear suspension and a drive shaft turning the wheels. They even tossed some wheels on from an XJR to give that sporty touch. Regardless of the modifications, that's one stylish and cool way to take your last ride to the great beyond.

Detroit Auto Show Update: Ford Interceptor, Jaguar Concept, New Scions

| понедельник, 10 августа 2009 г.

Jaguarteaser

While most of us would like to take it easy this holiday season, the automakers will have none of it. They’re gearing up for the most important industry event of the year, the Detroit auto show. Publications everywhere are gathering every tidbit they can on what we can expect to see in a few weeks. We’re still trying to figure out who gets to ride with Wiesenfelder to Detroit, but there’s still time to pre-cap the anticipated revelations.

  • Ford vehemently denied rumors that there would be a four-door version of the next generation Mustang, but at the same time they admitted there would be a sedan concept in Detroit based on the Mustang, just not called Mustang. We’re still unsure if it will be based on the current Mustang’s somewhat aging underpinnings or some new architecture. The name? The Interceptor. I guess the F naming convention is really over — think Fusion, Focus, Freestyle etc.
  • Jaguar revealed a teaser image of the concept they’ll debut in Detroit, shown here. All we know is it is a four-door sedan. That means it could either be the anticipated S-Type replacement the XF or a new take on the iconic XJ. We’re betting on the XF.
  • Scion held an event for current owners in Miami where it showed off the next generation xB and the all-new xD. The xD replaces the xA compact car which was greatly overshadowed by the boxy xB. Both will be revealed to the public in Detroit and go on sale in mid-2007.

Spy Shots: Jaguar XF-R

| среда, 5 августа 2009 г.

The Jaguar XF-R is almost complete, and the house of the saltant feline looks to retain its suite of exceptionally modest modifications for the hottest version of its hottest seller. Outside, the car gets hood vents and larger intakes for better breathing, and a sliver of a trunk spoiler hovering over quad tailpipes out back. Larger wheels wearing lower profile rubber hanging off of a seriously firm suspension will be on the menu, all the better to harness the signature trait of an R car: the 500-horsepower supercharged V8 up front. We'll see it some time next year, our bet is at the Geneva Motor Show in March.

Spy Shots: Jaguar XK diesel under development

|

The reports are true: a 3.0-liter diesel Jaguar XK is on the way. The new XK, long due for a serious refresh, will show up in 2009 with the minor addition of the JaguarDrive selector a la XF and the major addition of a diesel engine to boost fuel economy and sales, along with two new V8s.

Since Jaguar's 2.7-liter V6, which puts out 204 hp and 320 lb-ft., is only getting bored out to 3.0 liters it probably won't match the numbers put up by BMW's 3.5-liter, at 286 hp and 427 lb-ft. But the larger lump should goose the horsepower number and seriously increase torque (we hope) at least to the level of Audi's 3.0-liter V6 diesel, which turns out 240 hp and 369 lb-ft.

If diesel economy and pump prices still don't register with you, there will still be two gas options to fuel the fires. The 4.2-liter V8 goes away to make room for the new 5.0-liter with 400 hp, and if you want whipped cream and cherries on top, hit Jaguar up for the supercharged XK-R with 500 hp.
